Hi everyone! Welcome to Rebecca’s blog world! Our latest news is that Mom’s chemo has been postponed and will now start on Monday morning- we all have our fingers crossed. We expect the first few days after chemo to be pretty rough, with Mom gradually feeling better until about a week or so after the initial visit she feels “good.” She’ll probably be on a two week schedule, getting chemo every other week, for the next 6-8 weeks.
I wish you the best in the week ahead. It will be a hard one, but I just hope that the icky medicine blasts those bad cells into the stratosphere–never to be seen again. I will drop off a card tomorrow for you that Jonah, Daniel, and I made. I won’t stop by given that it’s your first chemo day, but please call or write if your up to (or want) a visit.
Lots of love, Eliana
We send our love and lots of good vibes.
Yvonne, this is a great Webpage idea.
We are thinking about you all, and wishing Rebecca the best possible chemo results.
All our Love to you all.
Will be thinking about you tomorrow Aunt Rebecca. And Uncle Josh, Yvonne and Jacob, the star players on your huge team of supporters. People you don’t even know (up here in New York, and elsewhere I’m sure) are sending you vibes of energy and health and peace.
Today is chemoday number one.
I think it calls for a poem by Hafiz
Becoming Human
Once a man came to me and spoke for hours about
“His great visions of God” he felt he was having.
He asked me for confirmation, saying,
“Are these wondrous dreams true?”
I replied, “How many goats do you have?”
He looked surprised and said,
“I am speaking of sublime visions
And you ask
About goats!”
And I spoke again saying,
“Yes, brother – how many do you have?”
“Well, Hafiz, I have sixty-two.”
“And how many wives?”
Again he looked surprised, then said,
“Four.”
“How many rose bushes in your garden,
How many children,
Are your parents still alive,
Do you feed the birds in winter?”
And to all he answered.
Then I said,
“You asked me if I thought your visions were true,
I would say that they were if they make you become
More human,
More kind to every creature and plant
That you know.”
Dear Rebecca, Josh, Jacob and Yvonne
I love you all.

Hi Becky,
Thinking about you and the family from out here in San Francisco. After what seems like weeks of miserable, cold, nonstop rain, we have clear blue skies today, though more showers were predicted. It think it’s an omen of your clear skies ahead.
Lots of love,
Susi
Rebecca, good luck today. You know I am thinking about you. So far, the weather has been quite bad here in San Diego. Lots of rain. Wish it would all head East.
Rebecca,
Our love and prayers go out to you in these difficult times. Best wishes from the San Diego Aleis: Phil, Anita, Ben and Roxy.
You have been in our thoughts and prayers! I hope all went well today and know that we’re pulling for you out here in New Mexico! Love to you and all your family,
Mary, Donnie, Jason, Samantha, and Curtis
Dear Rebecca,
Thanks for the update. I’m glad Monday went well and you are armed with meds to decrease side effects. You all have been in my thoughts and prayers. You’d asked for soothing music or guided meditations to help you maintain a peaceful state of mind. Yesterday, I left a CD of calming healing music for you in your mailbox (didn’t want to stop by unannounced). I haven’t heard it, but the instruments sound soothing. The Hafiz poem above is beautiful. take care, Kathy and Mike
Dear Rebecca,
My thoughts and heart healing sentiments have been with you since I learned about your illness. Have held off connecting to give you some breathing room. Please know that enormous affection and healing is coming your way from many of us. This Old Testament passage soothes me, and so I send it to you
“Those who tearfully sow will reap in glad song. Those who bear the measure of seeds walk along weeping, but will return in exhaltation, a bearer of their sheaves.”
courage, forebearance, and light
Sue

“HIgh HOpes, SILVER”
(Your pun wins.)

Rebecca:
It is unimaginably unfair that someone with your vitality who contributes so much to others’ lives is handed this fate.
During my recent trip to Congo, Gennie and thought of you, and hoped to share our experiences and thoughts. I do hope that can happen some day.
My thoughts are with you. Struggle hard.
Carl
Hi Rebecca,
I just found out about your health the other day through Des. I’m so glad he contacted me because I knew nothing about what you had been going through. I was totally devastated by the news. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You mean so much to so many people. Please remain optimistic and continue to have faith. I know it must be extremely difficult, but I know what a strong person you are. You will be constantly in my thoughts. Please let me know if there is anything you would like for me to do for you. I would be more than happy to do so. I care about you deeply and I cherish our professional and personal friendship.
Denise
A belated Happy Birthday to you, Rebecca. Things have been hectic here. Hopefully, you are over the worst post-chemo side effects by now. We have you in our daily thoughts and prayers.
